Prospect’s Rocky View and Wheatland Employment Services will be hosting a Job Fair on September 10 with 25 employers actively hiring for various positions.

The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Airdrie Best Western Hotel, located at 121 Edmonton Trail SE.

A few of the prospective employers include Boston Pizza, Sundial Growers, McDonald’s, Bass Pro Shops, Sobey’s, Superstore, Goodlife Fitness, and Days Inn.

“There will be a wide range of roles, including part-time roles that are suitable for youth,” said David Blackburn, senior programs manager with Prospect Human Services.

“Those interested should come prepared with a resume and be dressed in suitable attire in case of the opportunity for an interview on the spot.”

Blackburn added that at this particular job fair, all of the participating employers are actively recruiting for roles.

“Over the last few years, a lot of career fairs have been more like information sessions because of the recession,” he said.

“A lot of the employers weren’t hiring then. So, this is a great career fair to plan to attend.”

Job fairs create a great chance to connect with companies and leave a memorable impression.

“It’s a great chance to have a one-on-one connection with employers,” said Blackburn.

“The face-to-face engagement is an opportunity to really make an impression and make your resume stand out. Treat these circumstances as an opportunity to market yourself. Put your best foot forward professionally. Speak with confidence and put forth those critical things to make your day successful.”

At Rocky View and Wheatland Employment Services, residents can stop by for additional help preparing for the job fair.

“We have a highly talented team of career advisors,” said Blackburn.

“The advisors have several different tools they can use to assist job seekers, from mock interviews to resume and cover letter building to reference checks. They can help fine tune those things and help address some of the barriers that may prevent residents from securing employment.”

The office is open from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and job seekers can drop-in at any time to arrange further assistance.
